Walk past Gwanghwamun on a weekend afternoon and you may see signs with an English slogan on them. An acquaintance of our editor who doesn't follow the news closely first took them for a concert ad. The signs read “YOON AGAIN.”
It began as a rally chant, and it's now fixed in political coverage as the name of a group. That's why typing 윤어게인 into a search bar brings up “meaning” first. Here's who uses the term and how, with each side's claims laid out next to each other.
What does 윤어게인 (Yoon Again) mean?
윤어게인
A slogan calling for former President Yoon Suk Yeol's return or a continuation of his line. A Korean reading of the English “Yoon Again,” raised by supporters opposed to his 2025 removal. Also names the people who chant it.
In Korean: 윤석열 전 대통령의 복귀나 그 노선의 계승을 요구하는 구호. 그 구호를 외치는 세력을 가리키는 말로도 쓴다.
Outlets describe it in different tones. A column in Dailian by Lee Ki-sun, a former secretary general of the National Election Commission, read it in April 2025 as a call for Yoon's political return or for carrying on “the Yoon Suk Yeol spirit.” Nocut News described it in November 2025 as a slogan raised by some far-right forces who defend the December 3 martial law episode and want him back in power. Rally participants themselves argue that the impeachment was unjust and that martial law was within presidential authority (Newsis). So one phrase has three descriptions side by side. Another term for a political support base is 개딸.

When did people start saying 윤어게인?
The earliest point on record is April 2025. That month, supporters opposed to Yoon's removal kept up rallies chanting “Yoon Again,” and some lawyers from his impeachment defense team announced a “Yoon Again New Party,” then shelved it within half a day (Dailian).
At a People Power Party convention event in Daegu on August 8 that year, the phrase became the language of an internal fight. Some supporters held up a banner reading “President Yoon Suk Yeol AGAIN, with Jeon Han-gil,” and candidate Cho Kyoung-tae said in his speech that the party had failed to drive out “those who chant Yoon Again” (Segye Ilbo). Around then, the slogan also began to refer to people.
Why is 윤어게인 used so often? Three reasons
One: it's short. Four Korean syllables carry the whole demand. It needs no explaining and fits on a sign or a banner.
Two: both sides use it. To supporters it's a slogan; to critics and intra-party rivals it's a name for the other camp. When the chant grew louder during a People Power Party march on March 3, 2026, lawmaker Kim Yong-tae called for a break, while Supreme Council member Shin Dong-uk objected that “Yoon Again rally” was simply the wrong description (Pressian). Like 내로남불 (double standards), a phrase used to attack opponents gets used even more.
Three: it became an election issue. Ahead of the June 2026 local elections, how far to stand from the phrase became an open dispute inside the People Power Party. KBS reported on February 20 that the leadership vowed to draw a line with “forces that destroy the constitution” without naming Yoon Again, and on March 9 all 107 lawmakers issued their resolution. Leader Jang Dong-hyuk's public position was a message that he respected the lawmakers' consensus (Dailian).
윤어게인 by the numbers: the streets one year after the impeachment
No official statistic says how many people chant the slogan. Rally sizes give a snapshot instead. Newsis reported unofficial police estimates for downtown Seoul rallies on April 4, 2026, a year after the ruling. The first three groups were conservative rallies chanting “Yoon Again” and “void the fraudulent impeachment”; the last two were progressive rallies calling to “root out insurrection and treason.”
- Liberty University group (Seoul Station plaza)2000 people
- Belado and New Liberty Alliance (Anguk Station)800 people
- Liberty Unification Party (Gwanghwamun Square)500 people
- Emergency Action for Insurrection Liquidation and Social Reform (near Anguk Station)1200 people
- Candlelight Action (Yeouido)500 people
These are unofficial estimates from a single day, so they can't say which side is bigger. There's one opinion number too: the Dailian column cited a Gallup Korea poll published April 6, 2025, in which 81% said they accepted the Constitutional Court's ruling. That poll didn't ask about the slogan itself.
Who can you call 윤어게인?
The biggest dispute is about scope. Using it for people who chant the slogan themselves is uncontroversial. But applying it to someone because they attended a similar rally or support a conservative party can work as a label. Shin Dong-uk's objection, and Supreme Council member Cho Gwang-han's remark that there are few ways to control who shows up, both belong to this fight over scope (Pressian). When you read a story, it helps to first check who is using the term about whom.
